The Pune Porsche crash case, where a 17-year-old boy, allegedly drunk, killed two young engineers on a motorcycle, has been in the news since the tragic event on May 19. Here’s what happened that night.
In the bustling city of Pune, Maharashtra, a night of celebration turned into a harrowing tragedy that left families shattered and communities in mourning. The incident, involving three young individuals-
Vedanta Agarwal, Ashwini Koshta, and Aneesh Awadhiya- highlighted the devastating consequences of reckless driving and underage drinking.
Vedanta Agarwal, a 17-year-old from a prominent family, embarked on a night of revelry to celebrate his academic achievements. Despite being underage, he visited several bars, including the Cozy and Black Bar. Fuelled by alcohol, Vedanta decided to drive his family’s newly acquired Porsche Taycan, a decision that would have catastrophic consequences.
Character 1: Aneesh Awadhiya
Aneesh Awadhiya, hailing from Birsinghapur, Madhya Pradesh, was a dedicated and hardworking individual. As the eldest child in his family, he took on significant responsibilities early in life. His admission to DY Patil College of Engineering in Pune was a major achievement, enabling him to support his family. After completing his degree, he secured a good job in Pune and helped his younger brother move to the city with him for his studies. Just a month, before, he had visited his hometown of Pali Birsinghapur and had planned to return in June.
Character 2: Ashwini Koshta
Ashwini Koshta, hailing from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, was a shining example of academic excellence. She excelled in her studies, achieving an outstanding 99% in both her tenth and twelfth-grade examinations. Later she pursued her higher education at the Gyan Ganga Institute of Technology and Science, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
Her father, Suresh Kumar Koshta, a dedicated employee in the electricity department, instilled in her the values of hard work and determination.
After her studies, she ventured into software engineering, landing roles at prestigious companies like Amazon and Johnson Controls in Pune. Ashwini was very close to her family, even though she had a successful job. She often went to Jabalpur to see them on special days. She went there for her birthday on January 14th, and she promised her father she’d come back for his birthday on June 18th. She had already booked the ticket for Jabalpur and talked to her father daily about his birthday plans.
Character3: Vedanta Agarwal
Vedanta Aggarwal is a 17-year-old from Pune, the son of Vishal Agarwal, a well-known builder and owner of Brahma Reality. Recently, he celebrated passing his 12th exams by visiting Cozy Bar and Black Bar, despite being underage. Vedanta drove his family’s newly acquired, unregistered Porsche Taycan, worth 2.50 crores. His father, aware of his son’s age, had given him both the car and a credit card, which Vedanta used to pay a 48,000-rupee bill at the pub.

In Pune, Aneesh Awadhiya was a content and sociable individual who had formed a close-knit group of friends, including Ashwini Koshta. Ashwini, like kept her father informed about her daily life, and, on May 18, she called him to share her plans to meet her friends for dinner, as it had been a while since their last gathering. Among the friends she was meeting that night was Aneesh Awadhiya.
The friends decided to gather in Kalyani Nagar for dinner. This gets-together was a long-awaited reunion, and everyone was excited to catch up. As they assembled, that atmosphere was filled with laughter and lively conversations. They shared stories about their recent experiences, and updates on their lives, and reminisced about old times. The joy of being together after so long made them lose track of time.
The night passed quickly, and before they realized it, was 2 AM on the next day, Sunday. with the weekend ahead, they were relaxed and in no hurry to end their reunion. Eventually, they decided it was time to head home. Aneesh and Ashwini prepared to leave on the same bike, while their one of friends Akim Mulla followed them on another bike.

How the incident took place
Aneesh and Ashwini were riding on a bike and needed to take a U-turn to reach home. Aneesh checked for oncoming traffic to ensure it was safe before making the turn. Suddenly, a Porsche car approached at a very high speed of 200 km/h and hit their bike with immense force. The impact was so severe that Ashwini, who was seated on the back of the bike, was thrown 20 feet into the air and landed on the road, dying instantly. Aneesh, who was in the front, was propelled into a parked car and also died at the scene.
This tragic accident occurred on the night of May 18 in Pune. The 17-year-old driver, Vedant Agarwal, was returning from a celebration at pub with his friend after passing his 12th-grade exams. At around 2:15 AM, the speeding car stuck the bike carrying Aneesh and Ashwini Awadhiya.
Eyewitness reported that Ashwini was flung several feet into the air before hitting the ground, while Aneesh collided with another parked car. Both died on the spot due to the impact. It was noted that the car was traveling at 200 Km/h at the time of the accident.
Legal Proceedings
Immediate Actions and Bail
After the tragic accident involving Vedant Agarwal, who was driving a luxury Porsche car, he was arrested and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board. Despite the severity of the incident, Vedant secured bail within 15 hours due to the efforts of notable lawyer Prashant Patil. Patil, who has a history of representing high-profile clients, managed to secure bail for Vedant under several conditions.

- Vedant had to seek treatment for his alcohol condition, including a psychiatric consultation.
